How shoes are made

I really have to give a round of applause to my dad this week! He created & built this fantastic, must have piece of machinery! It's called a sole press machine & it is used for fastening soles to shoes.

Once you have glued the shoe you then need to apply pressure to make it stick. This neat machine has a rubber pad in the bottom that fills with compressed air to apply a constant pressure to the shoe.

The fancy industrial variety cost in the region of four grand but my dad used nuts & bolts from the shed & some recycled wood, a tractor inner-tube & a foot pump. Price! under fifty bucks! Cheers Dad This picture here is shaping up to be my new logo!
