I'm very into combining vintage with new. I love the history of old items & I love to recycle. The shoe last (the form on which you mould the shoe on, by stretching the leather around it) is also vintage recycled. I retrieved the shoe last from an old cobblers box that had seen better days. But with a clean up & an oiled hinge it came up trumps!
I made this shoe to wear to my then sister -in-laws lovely wedding. Unfortunately the shoes needed some repairs after the big day due to the half hour slighly wet walk along a dirt track, that I was coerced into making in my good clothes! However with a bit of cobbling they came up trumps & my mother walked off with them. She says she's been wearing them so that she can pretend that it is summer again!!!!!
